Join us for a fireside chat with Kellogg Alum Jocelyn Cortez Young, Founder and Managing Partner at Minerva Capital, a double bottom line impact investment firm focusing on emerging markets.

Jocelyn Cortez Young is a sought-after CEO, advisor, investor and board member for social impact and technology businesses. A seasoned investor, she is dedicated to investing in scalable companies with a social impact and financial return. She founded Minerva Capital in 2009 and the investment portfolio spans the Americas. Her focus is late venture and growth impact companies in the education, health, and technology sectors.

As a social impact innovator, Jocelyn focuses on applying disruptive technology to existing operating companies and to new spaces. As CEO and founder, Jocelyn raised millions from investors all around the world. Jocelyn serves on a number of boards, including Young President’s Organization – Forum Committee Member of the International Board.

Ms. Cortez-Young began her career at Goldman Sachs where she was responsible for overseas expansion of the operational infrastructure for the firm’s Brazilian and Mexican operations. Additionally, she assessed foreign exchange, political and repetitional exposure for the firm’s equities and options business in specific Latin American markets.

Since 2009 Ms. Cortez-Young has been investing on behalf of the largest families in the US, Latin America, Europe and the Middle East with the intention to use purpose driven capital for visionary outcomes and paradigm shifts.

In 2013 Ms. Cortez-Young was invited to the first Hispanic Business Leaders’ Forum at the White House. She is recognized as an innovator in impact investing and has given lectures in MIT Sloan School of Business, Kellogg School of Business, and financial institutions such as Merrill Lynch. She frequently appears on CNN (in English and Spanish) and has been published in La Reforma (Mexico City), Estrategia & Negocios (Spanish), and LAVCA (Latin America Ventura Capital Association.)

The event will take place in person at the Hyatt Coral Gables at 4:00 PM, followed by a networking happy hour at 5:30 PM.

The fireside chat is part of the Finance & Capital Markets Chat Series hosted by the S. Florida Alumni Club, and we ask for a $50 donation to help us organize future events. Registration Includes the Networking event on campus.
