About this event

Community • Other

If you are looking for a safe space to ask questions, receive encouragement, and share resources as you figure out the best ways to support your neurodivergent child, then please consider attending Spectrum Connection, a support group for caregivers.

During this hour-long support group, caregivers will have an opportunity to:

  1. Hear from a professional who works with neurodivergent individuals or to hear from each other and neurodivergent adults.
  2. Ask questions
  3. Share resources
  4. Seek connection and understanding

Spectrum Connection is co-sponsored by Shakti in the Mountains and Abbi Leitnaker, a speech-language pathologist, and Dylan Leitnaker, an occupational therapist. The Leitnaker’s are providing free childcare services for the children of the caregivers who wish to attend the support group. (When you register, the childcare details and a link to register are provided in the confirmation email.)

Parents who are using the childcare provided by the Leitnaker’s may park in the Acton Academy, formerly Little Social, parking lot. Childcare begins as early as 5:45 pm and ends at 7:15 pm, giving parents time to drop off their children before the meeting and parents time to connect after the meeting.

📢 October Topic: Navigating the Individual Education Plan (IEP)

Presenter: Treassa Dunning

I’m a retired special education teacher with 20 years in the classroom, and I now work alongside families as an advocate. My focus is helping parents truly understand the IEP process, what their rights are under IDEA, and how to collaborate effectively with schools to ensure their child’s needs are met. My goal is to give parents the tools and confidence to navigate IEP meetings, ask the right questions, and feel empowered as part of the team.

📢 November Topic: To be announced
