What was it like to experience treatment of illness or injury in the past? How did the practice of medicine develop in our region? While touring the manor house, slave dwelling, and gardens, take the journey from medicinal herbs, blood-letting, patent medicines, lessons of sanitation learned during warfare, crude surgical techniques, and unsettling realities of medical research to the regulation of medical practice and development of effective prevention and treatment of deadly infections. Join docent Dr. Marcia Coe for a tour highlighting medical history as it relates to the people of Sotterley during 1699-1961.
