About this event

  • 1 hour

2024 Regional Community Health Impact Lecturer Sandeep Jauhar, a practicing cardiologist, three-time bestselling author, and contributing opinion writer for The New York Times. Dr. Jauhar will discuss his recent book, My Father’s Brain (2023), a memoir of his relationship with his father as he succumbed to dementia and about the history and science of brain degeneration.

Dr. Jauhar will share his personal accounts about the complications that arise when family members become caregivers and the testing of sibling bonds. He will also delve into what happens in the brain as we age and our memory falters, how memory gives meaning to our lives, and how dementia complicates our understanding of what it means to have a self and what this means for patients, their families, and society.
