Spatial Data Infrastructure Summit 2018

The Canadian Council on Geomatics and the Open Geospatial Consortium are hosting a Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI) Summit on Tuesday, October 2nd 2018. This meeting will explore the state of Canadian SDIs and related geospatial work in Canada.

Across Canada spatial data infrastructures (SDIs) facilitate the sharing of geospatial information. Although each jurisdiction has taken a slightly different approach, we are all striving towards the same outcome – making our geospatial information more accessible and interoperable for all our stakeholders.
Building on previous Summits, the goal of the Spatial Data Infrastructure Summit 2018 is to help foster the establishment of a network of SDIs across Canada. This enables the sharing of geospatial data and information among public and private sector organizations and better facilitate public access to this data and information. This one day Summit will be held in Whitehorse, Yukon.
The agenda is focused on the current state of Canadian SDIs, remote communities and Indigenous issues surrounding SDIs, and climate change and disaster management. Breakout sessions will be set up for participants to discuss major SDI issues and working to improve our working relationships with colleagues across Canada.
This is an excellent opportunity to collaborate with your federal/provincial counterparts to identify strategic opportunities for standardization, co-development and partnership.
Vendors booths will be available all day.
