Time-travel to a 1913 Italian community in Richmond by opening a time capsule they assembled. Feel the persuasive tug of an 1887 pamphlet enticing immigrants to choose Virginia. In conjunction with the Library’s exhibition New Virginians: 1619–2019 & Beyond, connect with stories from past and present Virginia immigrants by interacting with objects they carried with them or created after they arrived—from cookbooks and musical instruments to architectural drawings. Join poet-librarian Wendy DeGroat to discover sparks for stories, memoir, or poetry in fascinating artifacts. Emerging and experienced writers welcome. Enrollment limited to 16 participants.
