"...one hell of a thrill for the audience and truly captures the essence and grit of going after seemingly impossible dreams." -- Broadway World
SPADURA is written and performed by Dahéli Hall, an acclaimed comedian, writer, and director based in Los Angeles. The show unapologetically takes on the baby industrial complex, aging, the physical, emotional, and financial cost of IVF, as well as the unique fertility obstacles faced by Black women in America.
Through a mix of stand-up, storytelling, and props, Dahéli includes personal anecdotes about herself, her Filipino husband and her Caribbean parents. Her humor and vulnerability in sharing her journey as she tries to conceive a Ja-Haitia-Pino-American baby make for a truly unforgettable performance.
A special addtion to this show is Nancy Lee! Born in SF and raised in Daly City, Nancy is an authentic Bay Area gal. She has the mugging stories to prove it! Rebelling against her parents' wishes to major in accounting, she received a BA in Drama. She then pursued her dreams of becoming a Hip Hop dancer which partially came true when she was a background Dancer for JayZ at a Soul Train Music Awards Show! Now she is a professional comic touring the country disproving stereotypes with her tough but silly, unapologetic, and sometimes offensive attitude. She is mutitalented with a background in acting, improv, celebrity impressions, and dance. She was in a close-knit comedic theater group for many years with the likes of Randall Park, Eddie Shin, Tim Chiou and Vivian Bang. Her screen credits include THE BLACKLIST, THE GARCIAS, GREY’S ANATOMY, NEVER HAVE I EVER, DR. KEN w/Ken Jeong, THUGABOO with The Wayans Brothers, THE WEDDING PALACE with Bobby Lee, THE LAST STAND with Kevin Hart and Anthony Anderson, KTOWN COWBOYS with Daniel Dae Kim. Now, she is elated to open for one of her favorite comedians and dear friend, Daheli Hall!
SPADURA is produced by award-winning multi-hyphenate Elizabeth Mei-Ling Yng-Wong.
