Space Camp

June 19 - 22, 2024

Pendle Hill Retreat Center

This retreat in Swarthmore, PA is a playful, inspiring opportunity to connect and create with others, or on your own.

In addition to having space to be creative, there will be campfires, s’mores, singing, a talent show, game night, and more!

The schedule includes professionally-led workshops appropriate for various levels in Brazilian samba drumming (led by Mike Stevens), improv theater (led by Bobbi Block), and science and nature (led by Anya Rose).

The vibe is loose: you can come and go to whatever sessions appeal to you, or take time to yourself! There will also be opportunties for participants to offer their own sessions.

*Total Cost of Space Camp = food + fees + lodging = $800. When you register through Eventbrite, you'll pay a $100 deposit. You'll then be invoiced separarely, and your $100 deposit will be deducted from your final invoice.

Frequently asked questions

How do I Register?

Register here in Eventbrite, with a $100 deposit. You'll be sent a confirmation email with a link to the Lodging Sign-up form. Register sooner for more room choices!

What are the lodging options?

We will be renting Brinton House. More info here: https://pendlehill.org/host/brinton-house/

What's the Food situation?

We have three, communal meals a day. The chefs are super responsive to food allergies and requests. The food is fresh and filling, but not fancy. There are small refrigerators and microwaves in Brinton House for you to use as well. More on food here: https://pendlehill.org/stay/dining-room-meal

What's the swimming situation?

Sadly, there is no place to swim on the premises (though there is a pond). However, there could be options to drive a short way to find swimming. Ridley Creek State Park is 15 mins away. Many of us really love swimming so we would love to make this happen.

I don't know anyone!

Plenty of folks attended camp last year not knowing anyone! Go for it! You will make friends quickly. This is part of why we keep it small (capped at 30 campers)

Will there be any other guests staying at Pendle Hill during Space Camp?

Yes. You might run into people attending a Peace Retreat, a Flute Retreat, or a private school teacher retreat. The host has told us that sometimes interesting connections between groups can form. You will also have the option during meals to sit only with people from our group if you want.

I’m not a… drummer, dancer, performer, visual artist, nature buff – will I be ok?

All workshops are designed to address all levels, from complete novice to advanced. Workshops are designed to make you totally comfortable trying something new, or help you dive deeper into an area you already pursue.

Will there be alcohol?

Alcohol will not be served. You can BYO after dark, but shhhhh…. We didn’t tell you that!

Please describe camp accessibility.

All activities are taking place in Brinton House, which is a short walk or drive from the main campus where meals are held. Six of the rooms are wheelchair accessible. Let us know if you need this and will make sure you get one of those rooms.

Will children be there?

Space Camp is designed for adults, as we do not provide childcare or child-centered activities. If you have questions about bringing a mature teen or baby, please reach out to lawoftwofeet@gmail.com.

What’s the Cancellation Policy?

If participant cancels within 60 days of June 18, they will receive a full refund, minus the $100 deposit. If participant cancels within 30 days, they will receive a 50% refund minus $100. If participant cancels after June 1, participant will be refunded $260 (covers food).

I can't attend for the entire time: do you pro-rate?

If you are not able to stay the whole time, please email to discuss your options. LawofTwoFeet@gmail.com

What happened to the old location?

Ashokan can no longer host groups as small as ours. Note that some of the photos you see here (the ones with people in them) are from previous years at Ashokan. This will be our first time getting to know the Pendle Hill location.

Is the schedule the same?

We will need to make some adjustments to the schedule re timing and the one fewer night than previous years. Otherwise it is mostly the same.
