Insects and arachnids are some of the most diverse yet misunderstood animals in the world, and South Florida is home to no shortage of amazingly cool critters! These tiny creepy crawlies may seem intimidating, but they play an integral role in the lives of not only birds but also the entire ecosystem. Join me on adventures through the habitats of South Florida in search for butterflies, dragonflies, grasshoppers, spiders, and so much more (yes, birds too)!

I’m Mikie Green, and my goal is to show just how little we really know about the strange creatures living their hidden lives all around us. I am a student at FAU working on a degree in Biology and research on spiders. I have always found the natural world incredibly interesting, and my love of birds and birding since a very young age has opened me up to an appreciation of all wildlife, especially insects, arachnids, reptiles, and amphibians.

This monthly series takes place throughout Palm Beach County. Open to all ages!
