Can AI really capture what makes us human? Science fiction visionaries have yet to answer this question, so why not let a comedian try?
Can an intelligent model really capture what makes us human? Brilliant scientists and science fiction visionaries have yet to answer this question, so why not let a comedian try? Engineer, STEAM educator, and stand up comedian Camille Roberts has a very local, like I’m talking sample n=1, arguably self-centered and yet hopefully charming take. Through training a model on 9 years of comedy notes and performances, “Sounds Like Something I’d Do” asks if we can outsource our efforts to be funny and if we ever should. Come for an evening of comedy, learning, and hopefully laughing in the face of our collective and ever-deepening existential dread.
Camille Roberts is a New York based comedian and producer (TikTok: @camillerobertsverified) who has been featured on the DC Underground Comedy Fest, Charm City Comedy Festival, The District Queer Comedy Festival, and more. She has performed on stages across the country and abroad (DC Improv, the FunnyBone, Flappers, and the Queer Comedy Club in London). Most recently, she toured with her show “Little Tea,” which explored the intersections of gender and sexuality with OCD and attention seeking (sounds hilarious, right?). Camille has sold out her hour at the D.C. Drafthouse, Coalition Theatre, Capital Laughs, and her first run at Caveat.
