About this event

  • 2 hours

In this guided journaling workshop, you can expect opportunities for introspection and creativity by way of journaling and sketching prompts set to a curation of lyric-less, exploratory, and binaural sounds. All are welcome to use this environment to work on anything in your journal or to simply meditate - the prompts are optional guides. The goal is for the music to be an additional source of inspiration and introspection. Bring your own notebook and pen, or we will provide one for you. There will be time at the end for optional sharing!

This class is recurring - join us for one session or come back as many times as you like! Class sessions: Wednesday 5/1: 6-8pm, Sunday 5/5: 5-7pm, Wednesday 5/8: 6-8pm, and Sunday 5/12: 5-7pm.

This class is taught by Alchemy artist-in-resdience Andy Thomas. Andy is a photographer and video/sound artist living in New Orleans. Our class offerings taught by artists-in-residence are developed by the visiting artists and are informed by their artistic practice. This is the only time this class will be offered at Alchemy!

This class is held in the dome on the AAC campus. Directions and parking information will be included in your confirmation email.

Registration: Please register early if you are able, as it helps us to assure that classes meet their minimums in order to run! If you register more than three weeks before this class begins, a 20% early bird discount will automatically be applied to your ticket at checkout.

A Note on Ticket Pricing: We are experimenting with offering sliding scale tickets in order to keep our classes accessible to as many community members as possible. There are three price tiers. Sustaining tickets help us continue to invest in programming. Full price tickets cover the costs associated with running classes. Accessibility tickets are priced below what it costs for us to run a class. If the cost of a full price ticket is a hardship, we encourage you to purchase a sliding scale ticket. If you can pay the full price or sustaining price, please choose that option so we can keep providing arts programming to the community.

Tuition Assistance: Tuition assistance is available for Alchemy classes and workshops if finances are a barrier. Apply for tuition assistance here.
