What is Soul Movement?

W e begin and end with gentle stretching and a brief meditation to create a sacred container and connect with yourself.

Soul Movement is about ... How it feels, not how it looks. Trusting your process. Going with any tempo or impulse that moves you. Letting your emotions, spirit and physicality inform your dance. Spontaneity, playing with a myriad of expressions … clumsy, graceful, grounding, soaring! Movement without choreography, you are the creator. Listening to your body’s wise cues. Healing and calming the nervous system. Harmonizing, your body, mind and spirit. Letting go and having fun!

BE YOURSELF, EXPERIENCE REJUVENATION AND INSPIRATION THROUGH CONNECTION, MOVEMENT AND MUSIC!

What do you wear?

You might want to wear clothes easy to move in and socks or dance shoes. You will be dancing on cushioned flooring without shoes. Participants wear everything from jeans, to dance, yoga, or workout wear to fancy going out dancing clothes to costumes. You will fit in whatever you wear. As a courtesy to others, please refrain from wearing perfume, cologne, scented body lotion, or other body fragrances.

We practice healthy boundaries:

All participants will be required to sign an agreement to ensure that everyone’s safety, personal space, and consent are respected throughout this event.

Healthy boundaries include:

  • If you or someone gives any kind of “no” signal, it means they prefer to dance alone and it’s not personal
  • In dancing with others: it’s okay to say yes, it’s okay to say no
  • If you feel uncomfortable in any way, please let Joelene know.
