Frequently asked questions

What level of fitness do I need to participate?

While a basic level of fitness is helpful, Soul Crusher caters to all fitness levels. Just be ready to laugh at yourself a bit if you feel out of breathe and always focus on "crushing it". You will never know if you are ready unless you try it!

How do I train for Soul Crusher?

Run like someone's chasing you, lift things like you're a superhero, and jump around like you're on hot coals...or focus on running, strength training, and functional exercises like pull-ups, push-ups, and squats. Grip strength is also crucial, so include exercises like dead hangs or farmer's walks.

What should I wear for this race?

Dress like you're going to a fashion show...in a muddy kid's park! But we recommend that its comfortable, fitted, moisture-wicking clothes. Avoid cotton as it retains water. Durable, trail-running shoes with good grip are also essential.

What kind of obstacles might I encounter?

Imagine the things you climbed on as a kid, then add some adult fear to it. You'll face wall climbs, monkey bars, rope climbs and many other fun and challenging obstacles.

Is Soul Crusher a team event or individual race?

It's like choosing between being a lone wolf or part of a wolf pack; it can be both. Some people race individually, while others participate as part of a team. Team participation can add a fun, collaborative element to the experience, and some "team pride" for completing the race together.

What if I can't complete an obstacle?

In the Elite Group there will be penalties and disqualifications if an obstacle is not completed correctly. In the Open Group, it is an "honor system" for the penalties (usually 30 burpees)...worst case, just do a dramatic roll on the ground, move on and continue having fun.

What's the difference between Elite and Open Groups?

The Elite Group is timed and has stricter rules and penalties since they are competing for cash prices. The Open Group is more about the personal challenge without the pressure of time...it is like a fun run, but with more bruises and stories.

How do I stay hydrated and fueled during the race?

There are water stations throughout the course, but carrying your own water is like having a security blanket.

What's the risk of injury, and how can I avoid it?

Like any physical activity, there's a risk of injury. It's like playing tag with the ground; sometimes it tags you back. Proper training, warming up, and paying attention to your body's limits can reduce this risk..avoid any obstacle you feel the need for a superhero cape.

What happens after I finish the race?

Participants receive a "Finisher" medal and T-Shirt, and access to post-race festivities, food, and drinks. Now it's time for post-race selfies and wondering how mud got THERE.

Do I have to sign a waiver to participate in Soul Crusher?

Yes. You'll need to accept the terms of the waiver as part of your registration process. It is important that you read and understand the waiver and your exposure to certain risks, including personal injury.

Do the children in the Kid's Group need to sign a waiver?

Yes. If a child is participating in the Kid's Group, the parent is responsible for signing the waiver on their behalf as part of the registration process. It is important that you read and understand the waiver and your child's exposure to certain risks, including personal injury.

What is included in the Registration Fee?

All participants will receive a time-chip, a "Finisher" T-Shirt and Medal. The Elite Group will be competing for cash prizes for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners of the Female and Male categories.

Is there a refund in case I can't make the race?

Up to 30 days before the race starts.

Will there be medical attention in the race, in case someone gets hurt?

We always count with medical personnel during our races to manage any unfortunate accident. Our best wish is that we never have to use them.

Can Soul Crusher be canceled due to bad weather?

Our priority will always be towards the safety of our participants. Our Operations and Medical staff will always assess the safety of the course. If we understand the course will not be safe, we could cancel the event. If it rains a bit, you will have more fun!

What will be my starting time?

You will have to choose a window of starting time during the registration process. It is important that you show up to the starting line 30 minutes before your designated time window. Heats of approximately 50 participants will be sent off every 10 minutes.
