Frequently asked questions
While a basic level of fitness is helpful, Soul Crusher caters to all fitness levels. Just be ready to laugh at yourself a bit if you feel out of breathe and always focus on "crushing it". You will never know if you are ready unless you try it!
Run like someone's chasing you, lift things like you're a superhero, and jump around like you're on hot coals...or focus on running, strength training, and functional exercises like pull-ups, push-ups, and squats. Grip strength is also crucial, so include exercises like dead hangs or farmer's walks.
Dress like you're going to a fashion show...in a muddy kid's park! But we recommend that its comfortable, fitted, moisture-wicking clothes. Avoid cotton as it retains water. Durable, trail-running shoes with good grip are also essential.
Imagine the things you climbed on as a kid, then add some adult fear to it. You'll face wall climbs, monkey bars, rope climbs and many other fun and challenging obstacles.
It's like choosing between being a lone wolf or part of a wolf pack; it can be both. Some people race individually, while others participate as part of a team. Team participation can add a fun, collaborative element to the experience, and some "team pride" for completing the race together.
In the Elite Group there will be penalties and disqualifications if an obstacle is not completed correctly. In the Open Group, it is an "honor system" for the penalties (usually 30 burpees)...worst case, just do a dramatic roll on the ground, move on and continue having fun.
The Elite Group is timed and has stricter rules and penalties since they are competing for cash prices. The Open Group is more about the personal challenge without the pressure of time...it is like a fun run, but with more bruises and stories.
There are water stations throughout the course, but carrying your own water is like having a security blanket.
Like any physical activity, there's a risk of injury. It's like playing tag with the ground; sometimes it tags you back. Proper training, warming up, and paying attention to your body's limits can reduce this risk..avoid any obstacle you feel the need for a superhero cape.
Participants receive a "Finisher" medal and T-Shirt, and access to post-race festivities, food, and drinks. Now it's time for post-race selfies and wondering how mud got THERE.
