Location

Salinas Salinas, CA

About this event

  • 2 days 2 hours

SoSo Cycles is thrilled to offer our customers an opportunity to do some ADV motorcycle training with GS Trophy participant, BMW Motorrad Ambassador and all-around awesome person, Jocelin Snow. The weekend will involve two days of training, (bring your own bike) free camping, 6 meals, and drinks. An outdoor shower and restroom will also be provided. This is a rustic location and event, expect to have an adventure and get dirty.

DETAILS:

  • The training facility is a remote location near the mountains just outside the city of Salinas, California, in Monterey County, just a short drive to Big Sur and Laguna Seca / Weathertech Raceway.
  • It’s best to have a knobby-style tire for the training, preferably a 50-50 on/off or greater. If you have street tires and would like to do the training on street tires, that is also fine. We do not recommend pivot-pegs for this class. If you have a lowered suspension bike, be advised that you may not be able to attempt all the obstacles on the course, due to the ground clearance. Skid plates are mandatory for this class, stock or aftermarket are both acceptable.
  • Please make sure you have proper adventure gear: helmet, eye protection, pants and jacket with padding, gloves and off-road boots with a minimum of 3 buckles or adventure-purpose boots. Make sure your boots have strong ankle protection; Motocross boots are ideal. I also suggest a hydration pack. If you are purchasing new gear for this class, please ride in it before the class date, this will help make sure any gear issues are addressed prior to the class.
  • Pack your spare levers, brake and shift pedals if you have them, especially if you are commuting to and from on your bike.
  • The training course is set up to build rider confidence. It's a two day process, so there is not an option for a single day, with the exception of private classes. We have many different obstacles we train on, along with varying terrain, with the exception of large hills.
  • Insurance will be through AMA. Participants will be required to have an AMA license or purchase one at the event for $40. There will be waivers for the participants to sign.
  • No guests. If a rider must bring a non-riding guest the cost for the guest will be $500 to cover insurance and meals. (event organizers WCAR & SoSo Cycles must be notified of any guests prior to the event)
  • Dinner will be provided Friday night. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner on Saturday, and Breakfast and Lunch on Sunday.
  • Participants will be camping on site. For anyone who prefers not to camp: We recommend the Hampton Inn and Suites 523 Work St, Salinas, CA 93901 (831) 754-4700. They are located directly off the 101 and have a large parking lot, with a Starbucks in the same lot. The hotel is about 10-15 minutes from the training facility.
  • Training will run from 9am - 5pm on Saturday and Sunday
  • Participants will bring their own bike, no rentals available.
  • The instructors will have the option to break the group into 2 or 3 smaller groups depending on skill level. All skill levels are welcome: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced
  • Meals will include: Dinners: Friday, Pasta (spaghetti or lasagna) and Saturday Tri-tip BBQ with beans, salad and bread. Lunch: Saturday, Build your own taco bowls and Sunday, smoked salmon with salad and garlic bread. Breakfasts will be burritos, granola bars, fruit, muffins, etc. Special diets will be provided for participants with food allergies. This menu is subject to change.
  • Gatorade, soda, coffee, water, and snacks will be provided for all three days. Beer and alcohol will be provided for Friday and Saturday night.
  • There are no RV hook-ups on the property, but there is space to park them if a participant would like to bring one. (we would require notice prior to the event to make sure we have designated the space)
  • Each participant that completes the training will receive a completion plaque.

All inclusive price is $1,500 per rider (plus $40 for AMA insurance if you don't already have an AMA license)

Registration details, liability waivers and $1,500 fee will be collected directly by Jocelin Snow and her team at West Coast Adventure Riders (WCAR).

SIGN UP HERE AND WE'LL PASS YOUR CONTACT INFORMATION ALONG TO JOCELIN TO COMPLETE REGISTRATION.

Please note, registering on this Eventbrite page does now confirm your participation in the event as Jocelin will need to collect funds and confirm the appropriate paperwork is submitted before the event.
