Sophie Santos...is Codependent

Sophie's life takes a tumultuous turn when the love of their life ends their relationship, attributing it to Sophie’s codependency. Forced to vacate their ex's parents' home in Jersey, Sophie embarks on a mission to win back their ex’s heart, seeking guidance from a “relationship recovery” coach from “With My Ex Again dot net.” Paradoxically, as Sophie's life coach encourages Sophie to redirect their focus AWAY from rekindling the past romance and towards self-improvement, Sophie's OCD emerges as a charismatic and controlling frat boy, urging Sophie to "win the breakup" by any means necessary.

Together, Sophie and OCD embark on a comically adventurous cross-country road trip, harmonizing to tunes and devising elaborate revenge schemes to make Sophie’s ex jealous AF. However, OCD becomes just as overbearing as Sophie was with their ex-partner. Sophie finally delves into the roots of their codependency. They trace it back to a time long before Sophie’s ex entered their life, to Sophie’s frequently absent yet indomitable immigrant military father, who bears a suspiciously striking resemblance to both Sophie and their OCD persona.

Sophie Santos… is Codependent delivers an uproariously fresh and charming twist on the classic buddy road trip as Sophie embarks on a journey where their buddy turns out to be themself.

Premiered at the 2023 Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Recently sold out the 2023 San Francisco Sketch Festival.
