Event description

Description

The third film of the SOMM documentary series about the beauty, history, and personal experience of wine revolves around two tastings reminiscent of the 1976 Judgment of Paris (a blind tasting where upstart California wines defeated their classic French counterparts and changed the wine world forever).

At Verve Wine in New York City, Dustin Wilson (featured in the previous SOMM films) gathers the greatest tasters of today (including Laura Maniec, Pascaline Lepeltier, Sabato Sagaria, and Aldo Sohm) for a blind tasting to determine if the top six pinot noir wines from around the world can match the greatest Burgundies of France.

In Paris, three of the greatest legends in wine (Jancis Robinson, Steven Spurrier, and Fred Dame) meet to taste exceptional bottles from their careers and discuss how wine intersects with their lives.

The top wines from the New York tasting are then judged a second time by Fred, Jancis and Steven.

Decanter magazine says “[t]his film serves to remind us that wine is subjective and deeply personal; it’s not about scores and ratings or price tag, but about who you’re with, where you are, and how you feel in the moment you taste it.”

Dustin Wilson will introduce the film. A panel discussion with Bobby Stuckey, Wilson, Sabato Sagaria, and moderator Raymond Snead will follow the screening. An after party at Jax Fish House will follow this program.
