A Practice of liberationDancing Freedom is a practice of liberation. It is a somatic, ecstatic and shamanic dance practice supporting the emergence of living oneness. It is fun, easy, elegant and empowering. It heals. It reveals. It welcomes. Any person of any age, size, color or creed can do it. When we come together we come in peace to create a deep space of shared practice, transformation and community.Dancing Freedom is a yoga of motion.Stillness and action co-create each other. The spiritual journey is a love dance in the space within and between. To be one, at peace, and at home, with the cosmic dance is to be free. Though we are already free, we forget. Dancing Freedom practices shine light into the cellular truth of wholeness. We travel somatic, ecstatic and shamanic currents HOME. We arrive, again and again, at cellular/genetic wholeness, in every one of our multi-dimensional bodies. In being and becoming this freedom in time, space and experience…we come to know who we already areDancing Freedom Philly is facilitated by Amber Johnston. Amber grew up dancing with a heavy influence in Modern Dance, as a teenager she turned to Electronic music and Raves. After getting an Art education in ceramics and photography she found the healing she was looking for in Reiki and Meditation. It wasn't until 2013 that she discovered Conscious Dance. After 2 years of practice Amber traveled to Australia to receive her Dancing Freedom training and has been holding dance journeys since 2021. She is also an Artist/Photographer and all the photos on this page and in events are taken by her.

The Summer Solstice is a threshold—a moment when the sun stands at its peak, illuminating the world in its fullest expression of light.For our ancestors, this was a time of celebration, gathering, and tending the sacred fires that connected community, spirit, and the rhythms of the Earth.This month, we gather around our own Solstice Fire.Through the elemental journey of earth, water, fire, air, and ether, we will explore the flames that live within us—the spark of creativity, the heat of transformation, the courage to shine, and the warmth that connects us to one another.What is asking to be illuminated? What is ready to burn away? What part of you longs to glow more brightly in the season ahead?Together, we will move, sweat, breathe, and celebrate the fullness of summer. We will dance with the fire in our bellies, the sun in our hearts, and the wild aliveness that pulses through all living things.Dancing Freedom is a guided movement meditation and a somatic, ecstatic, and shamanic dance practice that welcomes people of all ages, abilities, identities, and experience levels.Please note: For the summer months we will be returning to the Common Room and Sunday Afternoon, where we'll have the comfort of air conditioning as we dance.Come as you are.
