This session provides STEAM teachers with several simple, engaging materials science activities to incorporate into the STEAM classroom. As the world becomes increasingly technological, students need to understand the applications of science and technology in their everyday lives.&nbsp;Hands-on activities are a great way to engage students with the applications of materials science and engineering to the world around them. Solid-state chemistry is often overlooked in the classroom and materials science provides a great way to introduce and illustrate the properties of solids – such as metals, ceramics, and polymers. These hands-on activities provide engaging activities for students to gain an understanding of materials science and the applications of materials in the world around them Background | The ASM Materials Education Foundation creates the spark of scientific and engineering knowledge that ignites a journey of innovation and discovery. The Foundation doesn’t just support classrooms – it transforms them. Through dynamic, hands-on curriculum, educators are equipped with a treasure trove of tools that go beyond textbooks, igniting a passion for learning that stretches far beyond the four walls of a traditional classroom.Who Should Attend | STEAM Teachers (7-12), STEAM Coaches, and Administrators with a keen interest in STEAMLunch will be provided.**Special Location | West Mifflin Area High School, 91 Commonwealth Ave, West Mifflin, PA 15122
