About Solar Youth:Solar Youth is a New Haven based nonprofit whose mission is to empower youth from New Haven’s high-poverty neighborhoods to achieve nothing less than lifelong success.  In Solar Youth programs young people explore their environment, become problem solvers and practice leadership. We do this through our unique program model which includes long-term supportive relationships and programs that happen in their neighborhoods to foster partnerships between our organization and the communities we serve. Help Solar Youth celebrate 17 years of “Growing Tomorrow’s Leaders!”
Solar Youth is pleased to announce our annual event, Solar Jam.  This fun event will raise funds to support out of school and summer environmental education and empowerment programs for the youth of New Haven.  Our presenting sponsor is Griswold Home Care.
Senator Gary Winfield, a champion for economic justice issues and strong ally for today’s youth, will keynote the event and be honored with our Awesome FOSY award (FOSY=Friend of Solar Youth).  In addition to the award, there will be a live (and silent) auction that will include many exciting items from holiday packages to fine dining.  EXCITING NEWS:  Our auctioneer this year is one of the YOUTH leaders of our program, coached and supported by local leaders.

Solar Jam will take place from 6:00pm to 9:30pm on Thursday, May 18st at Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies’ Kroon Hall. The event will feature food, drinks, music and a live and silent auction.
