3:20pm: Totality will occur when the moon covers the sun completely at this time! It will last 3 minutes and 38 seconds. 4:33pm: Moon no longer covers the sun

How can I tell if my Eclipse glasses are legit?

Accepted Answer

You need glasses that meet the ISO 12312-2 (sometimes written as ISO 12312-2:2015) international safety standard. The glasses we provide are ISO and safe. Be careful buying glasses online!

Can I use sunglasses for the eclipse?

Accepted Answer

Hard no. DO NOT USE REGULAR SUNGLASSES! They’re not strong enough to observe the sun and can lead to eye damage. We recommend either using approved eclipse glasses (which we have), solar filters, or creating a pinhole viewer to project an image on the ground (which we will have available to make).

What happens if it is cloudy on the day of the eclipse?

Accepted Answer

The eclipse will still happen! It will get dark out (possibly even more noticeable), the temperature will drop by 10 degrees Fahrenheit, and animals will think it is nighttime. It will still be a notable, multi-sensory experience to witness. We’ll still be celebrating here at the Arrowhead!

When do I need to wear my eclipse glasses?

Accepted Answer

You need to wear your glasses when any portion of the sun is visible. If you are within the path of totality, you can safely remove your solar eclipse glasses and continue viewing only during the few moments of totality without your glasses on.
