Virtual Sol Summit 2021 will be a dynamic 3-day event that will be a fusion of panels, workshops, culture, and climate! Community, organizers, creatives, and elected officials will have the opportunity to learn what their role is in the climate justice movement.Earth Day April 22, 2021 11:30 am - 12:30 pm This mixer will engage faculty, community leaders, and alum to expose students to climate and environmental justice as a career avenue, research topic, graduate school discipline, and community service initiative.6:00 pm -8:00 pm Sol Nation will partner with the Black Alumni Chapter of UNCC to present Black is the New Green moderated by Bevy Smith, award-winning radio/tv host &amp; author of BEVELATIONS- Lessons From A Mutha, Auntie, Bestie. She will be moderating a panel with fellow comrades about &quot;The Missing Piece&quot; and &quot;Black is the New Green.&quot; It&#x27;s a great fusion of the arts, youth, and OGs in the environmental justice movement.Friday, April 23rd, 2021 Sol Summit Concert 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm Every movement needs music right?? Poets and musicians will come together to put the environmental justice movement into artful words and music. We will have some special guest appearances and our featured artist will be 2021 Grist 50 artist Benny Starr!Saturday. April 24th, 2021 The Summit 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Panels, breakout sessions, and workshops to share, learn, and digest some of the most relevant topics in climate justice affecting Black and POC people today.This will be one of the most engaging, cultured, and information-packed climate justice summits!
