A fundraiser in support of the Grosse Pointe Historical Society and Gianna House

On Thursday, June 20, 2024, the Grosse Pointe Historical Society will hold its Summer Fundraiser Gala. This year's event, Soirée at the Stone Manor, will be held at a contemporary home built for the ages. In the tradition of great Grosse Pointe houses, it features stone, slate, timber, custom metal work, vintage and re-purposed materials, tile and decorative finishes sourced from around the globe and carefully constructed by craftsmen to provide a family home destined to endure for decades.

"A Little Night Music II" -- afterglow benefitting Gianna House

A very special afterglow will take place following the Gala. Guests will enjoy a concert on the Marquis de Riviere Stradivarius violin in the spacious lower level of the home. Over the centuries, this 1718 violin violin passed through a prestigious list of owners and performers. In 2004 it came into the collection of the Gerald and Lynne Krueger family of Grosse Pointe Shores. The proceeds of the afterglow will benefit Gianna House in Eastpointe. Gianna House works to improve the lives of at-risk pregnant young women, mothers, and their babies by providing them with the opportunity of a community-based environment that offers education, life skills training, and career planning that positively impact them, their children, and their families. www.giannahouse.org.

The Grosse Pointe Historical Society Campus includes the c. 1823 Provencal-Weir restored ribbon farm house, the c. 1840 Log Cabin, and the Grosse Pointe History Center, which houses exhibition and activities spaces, administrative offices and the Alfred B. and Ruth S. Moran Resource Center.

GPHS collections include maps, blueprints, documents, bills, contracts, letters, books, catalogs, photographs, videos, prints, drawings watercolors, scrapbooks, oral histories, albums, real estate records and additional ephemera relating to the history of the Grosse Pointes and neighboring communities as well as objects, tools, household goods and furniture.
