The SoHo Memory Project celebrates the history of SoHo as a New York City neighborhood.Our mission is to document the evolution of SoHo, with a focus on the decades between 1960 -1980 when it was a vibrant artists’ community. We preserve SoHo’s past so that present generations understand our neighborhood’s rich history and are informed as we shape its future.The SoHo Memory Project is a 501c3 nonprofit.

This digital initiative is an immersive, interactive, multi-media archive of resources on the cultural, social, political, and urban history of the area now called SoHo. With documentation spanning from colonial times through to the present, a focus is placed on the decades between 1960-1980, when SoHo was a thriving artists’ community.
