The Art of Cold Process Soapmaking

A Hands-On Soapmaking Workshop in Los Angeles

Spend a slow, intentional morning learning the traditional art of cold process soapmaking – from scratch.

📍 Location: Say When – 1859 W Adams Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90018
🗓 Date: Saturday, March 28
Time: 10:00am-1:00pm
👥 Limited to 8 guests

What You’ll Experience

In this immersive 3-hour workshop, you’ll create your own 20 oz loaf of cold process soap (approximately 4-5 full-size bars) using a nourishing plant-based recipe.

This is real soapmaking – oils and lye, true saponification – the same method used for centuries, thoughtfully adapted for beginners in a safe, guided environment.

You’ll learn how to:

• Safely work with lye
• Blend oils and butters for a balanced, skin-loving bar
• Control trace and pour with confidence
• Create natural movement using a two-color in-the-pot swirl technique
• Finish your loaf with a textured or smooth top

Customize Your Own Soap Loaf

You’ll design a completely unique bar using:

• A curated selection of premium fragrance oils and essential oils to blend your own custom scent
• Mineral micas and natural clays for earthy or vibrant tones
• Dried botanicals for texture and visual detail

Every loaf will be entirely your own.

What’s Included

• All materials, oils, tools, and safety equipment
• A printed recipe and step-by-step guide to take home
• Professional cutting of your loaf into 4-5 bars
• U.S. shipping of your finished bars (included)

Your soap will be shipped approximately 2 weeks after class to allow for initial curing. Full cure takes about 4 weeks – part of the beauty of this slow craft.
Local guests may also choose in-studio pickup after one week.

Important Notes

This is not melt-and-pour soapmaking (no pre-made bases). You will be working with raw oils and lye under close supervision.

This workshop uses plant oils and fragrance materials. If you have known allergies or skin sensitivities, please reach out before booking so we can advise accordingly.

Who This Is For

• Beginners curious about making soap from scratch
• Creatives who love working with their hands
• Anyone wanting to slow down and learn a timeless craft
• Future soapmakers ready to build confidence
