Description

SciNet High Performance Computing HPC

There is a lot of activity around GPUs, from machine learning, to self-driving cars, financial models, and big data analytics. While wanting to buy the hardware (YetiWare is hardware agnostic) is a good first step, as with a lot of things in IT, it isn't the hardest thing you'll encounter with a GPU cluster. The scientific computing community has built large scale compute clusters to tackle the world’s most challenging problems, and largest datasets, using parallel programming for decades.

Come and hear about the issues surrounding GPUs and GPU clusters to ensure that your deployment is a successful (and maybe rescue one that isn’t!). Hear about infrastructure requirements, programming models, software engineering challenges, and practical tips and advice. Hear what SciNET, Canada’s largest supercomputing site, has to say about making sure you get the results you expect.

Speakers:

AJ Guillon (YetiWare Inc.) - AJ is the chair of the OpenCL Safety Critical (SC) TSG at Khronos, and has been working with GPUs for almost a decade.

Daniel Gruner - CTO - SciNET High Performance Computing Consortium - SciNet is Canada’s largest supercomputer centre, providing Canadian researchers with computational resources and expertise necessary to perform their research on scales not previously possible in Canada.
