About this event

  • 5 hours

Join us for a one-day CPD event hosted at Goldsmiths, University of London taking place on Thursday 16th May 2024.

Together with you we want to enable young people with care experience to get access to higher education; and to be aware of the opportunities available.

During the day we will be able to work with you to create a better understanding of the specific and generic support available at different institutions and how this can best be communicated to young people.

Our CPD event will help you as practitioners when engaging with care experienced young people to understand their individual journeys and needs, and how best to respond to those.

By attending this conference, you will:

  • Have the opportunity to improve your understanding of university and what it can offer the young people in your school/college community.
  • Be able to highlight the support available at university to care experieced young people, with in-depth knowledge and accuracy.
  • Have an increased understanding of how you and others can support care experienced young people to access support before and during university.
  • Explore how practitioners collaborating together can improve the life chances of care experienced young people in general.

This conference is for:

  • School/college practitioners.
  • Governors.
  • Careers leads.
  • Personal advisors.
  • Foster carers.
  • Virtual Schools.
  • HEIs.
  • Charities and other organisations.
