"We are an Alliance of doers dedicated to our neighborhoods across this continent."The Incremental Development Alliance began in 2015 as a collaboration between small developers John Anderson and Monte Anderson and now Executive Director Jim Kumon. John and Monte found themselves overwhelmed by the number of people asking them the same question: how do I build a small building in the place I love? In order to share their mentorship and hard-won knowledge far and wide, Jim spearheaded the creation of the Alliance and structured their experiences into training for aspiring small developers. With the help of Gracen Johnson and the Board of Directors, the organization created a suite of classroom-based and hands-on coaching tools that could be scaled across the country for the benefit of municipal clients and developers alike.The Alliance part of our name celebrates the many individuals, institutions, foundations, and grassroots groups that are our allies in this work. We are an Alliance of doers dedicated to our neighborhoods across this continent.We are grateful to our founding members for making this Alliance a reality.

Join us for a unique opportunity to engage in the growing national conversation with one of the nation’s most influential urbanists, Monte Anderson. Anderson is a co-founder of the Incremental Development Alliance, an organization which has elevated the practice of small-scale development, teaching local entrepreneurs around the country the mechanisms for building value in their neighborhoods. The organization offers a roadmap for pulling off small-scale development projects – from managing the cost of infrastructure, to gaining access to financial capital, and training new entrepreneurs. Tickets are free but are required for this event through Eventbrite. We will also give a preview of what you can expect at another upcoming day-long workshop in October, aimed to build knowledge, break down barriers, support meaningful economic development, and build a community of homegrown developers in Kansas City.
