Small Engine Basics Course
The Small Engine Basics Course is an 8 session class led by the Master Mechanics from Step One Automotive Group.
The HSU Educational Foundation is offering a Small Engine Basics Repair course , lead instruction by Step One Automotive, at the HSU Innovation Institute South. This course will be held 2 times per week for 2 hours each session. (Wednesdays 5 pm to 7 pm, and Saturdays 10 am to 12pm).
The “Small Engine Basics Repair” course will be 4 weeks long, for a total of 16 hours and led by a Step One Automotive Senior Master Mechanic. Participants of middle and high school level will be taking apart a small engine, putting it back together and starting the engines. The participants will learn basic parts of the engine, the tools needed and techniques that can be applied to vehicle engine repair.
For the final class on May 23, 2026, family members are invited to stay for the length of the class to watch their participant put the final touches on the engine and start it. The HSU Educational Foundation workforce development partner for this course is Step One Automotive Group.

May 2, 6, 9, 13, 16, 20, and 23
(Wednesdays 5pm-7pm and Saturdays 10 am-12 pm)
Participants must wear closed toe shoes!
