Mindful and contemplative stitching is a way to engage with the textile art within us in a creative and reflective way. Yvonne shares her own journey and practices with you.
She will introduce some mindful ways of well being whilst stitching, alongside the techniques and style of this movement in textiles.
We will cover some of the influences of SLOW stitch including, Japanese boro, kantha work and the materials that are useful to work with.
Beginners are most welcome as well as those with experience of making textiles at any level.
What to Expect
The nine online sessions offer simple textile practice and support those who feel the need to slow down through creativity. It is suitable for those with experience of making textiles, at any level, and adds another reflective dimension to sewing, embroidery/art practice.
It needs very little equipment so is transportable and can be done anywhere. You will learn a whole variety of techniques to develop a slow stitch practice, that will bring you joy, calm and relaxation. There are lots of examples to inspire you too from students who have undertaken the course before and you get to keep it to refer to and be your companion in your SLOW stitch practice!
It will take you on a journey through the history, techniques. There are lots of demonstrations and inspirational ideas for projects.
