Slow Down & Sew with Tabitha Moses

Come and join me for a relaxed and welcoming embroidery workshop, where I’ll introduce you to the meditative art of hand stitching.

We’ll explore some simple embroidery techniques, play with colour, and you’ll get a close-up look at some of my own artwork for inspiration. I’ll guide you through a range of stitches—including seed stitch, whipped back stitch, French knots, and some playful variations of chain stitch—and if there’s a particular stitch you’ve always wanted to learn, just let me know!

This workshop is perfect for complete beginners or anyone wanting to refresh their sewing skills in a calm, creative space.

All materials and equipment will be provided, along with hot drinks aplenty.

There will also be a chance to browse and purchase publications featuring my work, if you’d like to take something home with you.

A bit about me...

I studied embroidery at art school and, after several years working in costume for film and TV, completed a masters degree in textiles. I can’t remember a time when I didn’t love to stitch.

Through fabric and thread, I explore personal and shared stories. In 2013, I received the Liverpool Art Prize for a body of work about my experience of infertility and IVF, opening space for conversations around this often sensitive subject.

Alongside exhibiting my work nationally and internationally, I love sharing what I’ve learned and supporting others on their creative paths. I’ve taught in universities across the UK, and worked with people of all ages and backgrounds in a variety of cultural settings.

As a qualified coach and arts therapist-in-training, I work creatively and deeply with individuals in ways that complement my studio and workshop practice.

When I’m not stitching, I enjoy singing with Hope St Harmonies and dancing with the mid-life, avant-garde dance troupe, Hot Gusset.
