Overview

Slam Workshop: Foundations & Frameworks

The Nuyorican's "Slam Workshop: Foundations & Frameworks" is focused on poetry performance with an emphasis on craft, improving writing skills among attendees, therefore improving the strength of their performance. The facilitator will open the session with a mini-lesson on a poetic craft. Attendees will then write a new poem or edit a pre-written poem to incorporate the learned craft. The remaining duration of the workshop will be one-to-one editing/performance feedback on the poem, driving in the lesson point.

Date/time:

Second Tuesday of each month

From 6:30pm to 8pm Eastern Time

Location:

Virtual (via Zoom)

(Link will be emailed to ticketholders before each workshop)

FREE!

(RSVP required to receive Zoom link)

Note: Participants are not required to attend all workshops. You will learn from any one class.

** During each class, we may ask that participants share a Google Docs link (or similar online cloud/document service) of their poem (draft) in the Zoom group chat pane -- so that the facilitator and your fellow class participants can read along and give feedback. (In advance, please test and ensure that your poem is accessible via that link.) **

** NOTICE: By attending and/or participating in events by the Nuyorican Poets Cafe, you acknowledge that your voice and/or likeness may be recorded and/or photographed. **
