About this event

  • 2 hours

“The object isn’t to make art, it’s to be in that wonderful state which makes art inevitable”

– Robert Henri, “The Art Spirit”

Join artist in residence Eileen MacAvery Kane to enhance the art-making process utilizing mindfulness and movement. By immersing ourselves in this experiential journey, we'll tap into a reservoir of creativity and nurture our physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Creating art in nature offers a unique opportunity to explore both our surroundings and ourselves.

All levels of experience are welcome. Participants will receive basic instruction in sketching and painting amid the beauty of a productive biodiverse farm.

In the spirit of sustainability, we encourage participants to bring their own materials, including a small sketchbook with watercolor paper, watercolors, watercolor pencils, pencils, and a waterbrush. General Admission is $20. Alternatively, a basic art kit containing these supplies can be purchased for $5, which is reflected in the $25 “General Admission + Basic Art Kit” ticket option.

While some seating is available, participants are welcome to bring their own sketching or camping stools, though it's not mandatory.

Light refreshments will be served.

Space is limited, please register in advance!

About the instructor: A Hudson Valley native, Eileen MacAvery Kane’s work explores our relationships with memories, family, community, spirituality, nature, and the environment through painting, photography, drawing, digital collage, and video. The interaction of these elements, and the sometimes unlikely pairing of them, is what interests her. Eileen has over three decades of expertise as an artist, graphic designer, and art educator. A life-long yogi and yoga instructor, Eileen teaches yoga locally and leads walking movement and meditation workshops.
