Sketch Comedy Class 201: Next-Level Comedy Writing

Aperçu

Level up your sketch writing with advanced formats, peer collaboration, and direct feedback to sharpen your comedy voice.

Sketch 201: Next-Level Comedy Writing builds on the core concepts and four foundational sketch types introduced in Sketch 101, guiding you toward a well-rounded comedy writing portfolio. You'll continue to refine your voice and process through a mix of solo writing and collaborative exercises with partners, all designed to strengthen your comedic instincts and execution.

Each submitted sketch will receive at least one round of personalized instructor feedback, and you'll sharpen your critical eye by participating in peer critiques during in-class workshops.

By the end of the course, you'll have the skills and confidence to write a wider range of sketch formats—including parody, satire, group sketches, blackout and runner sketches, and late-night–style monologues—equipping you for both the writers’ room and the stage.

This course consists of six two-hour classes on Mondays (June 2, 9, 16, 23, & 30 and July 7) from 6 to 8 pm at Big Couch's Bywater location at 1045 Desire Street, New Orleans, LA 70117.

Prerequisite: Completion of Sketch 101 is required.

Materials: Writing tools required; a laptop is strongly recommended.
