A Spring Equinox Voice Ritual for Women and Femmes
A Spring Equinox Voice Ritual for Women and Femmes*
Do you hear the call of the Siren within? She sings to you, you can’t resist her voice. You must follow, and in this Spring Equinox ritual of transformation, you will let your walls and masks be destroyed and drowned as you are reborn in your truest, primal, authentic voice.
Reclaim your voice as a tool for transformation.
Sing from the depths of your ocean.
Express your truest desires. Vocalize with eros in sisterhood.
Come explore your embodied expression in this evening of somatic and vocal exploration and experimentation. In this ceremony, we will play with vocal improvisation, relaxation of the body, deep listening, traditional somatic practices and connection with the inner sounds waiting to be expressed and so often repressed! As women and femmes*, our vocal expression will call in our intentions for the Spring Equinox, as we weave a shared altar and shared sacred song of prayer and power.
Bring a water bottle, wear clothes for movement and dance, bring an object for the altar (that you will bring back home with you) and please arrive on time. You may also bring a journal, but not required. The doors will close promptly and the ritual will begin at 7:15pm.
You are welcome to bring snacks to share at the end.
*Femmes = female-identifying, nonbinary, gender-nonconforming, and anyone who wants to cultivate their inner feminine power
Mela Closs
Mela is a Voice Ritualist and Musician creating playful experiences grounded in imagination and healing. She uses voice and ritual as tools for transformation, healing, and empowerment. With a background in music and theatre education (BA Theatre Education; Emerson College, Orff-Shuelwerk Level 1, Theatre of the Oppressed Joker Training Level 1), she uses movement, singing and breathing techniques to connect to the body. With the co-creation of sacred space and ceremony, voice sessions become a channel of shifting energy, patterns, and opening new pathways to grow. As a musician, her performances explore themes of spirituality, oceanic worlds, connection, and sovereignty. She explores ambient drone-heavy soundscapes and playful vocals in Melangu, Theyya, Zelenaya, and solo music projects. She leads rituals that celebrate lunisolar cycles, rooted in ancestral folk traditions. She loves creating community events that are grassroots, spiritual, intimate, and joy-centered.
