Upper Arlington Special Olympics has offered year round sports training and athletic competition to student and adult athletes with intellectual and physical disabilities since 1986. Our current roster of over 70 athletes participates in soccer, swimming, basketball, cheerleading, bowling, track, tennis, bocce, and golf activities. Under the direction of Coordinator Mike Borders and with the support of volunteer adult coaches and volunteer student helpers, the athletes proudly perform at home and away games and events including both regional and state competitions. The athletes are also very enthusiastic participants in the annual UA July 4th parade.
Athletes and their families do not pay for participation in Special Olympics activities. Our program is a self-sustaining, non-profit organization. We do not receive funding from Special Olympics at the county, state or national level.
100% of our fund raising proceeds are used directly to coordinate the sports programs and assist athletes from Upper Arlington, Grandview Heights, and Marble Cliff. Please contact us if you are interested in receiving more information about our program, including your child’s participation, interest in volunteering, or if you wish to make a tax deductible contribution.
