Single Cell Omics Panel Discussion

The Gulf Coast Consortia (GCC) brings great minds together for the greater good—pushing the limits of what’s possible in the biosciences through collaboration with the greater scientific community.The organization is a collaboration of basic and translational scientists, researchers, clinicians and students in the quantitative biomedical sciences who help advance the region’s scientific progress through participation in joint training and research programs, utilization of shared equipment and core facilities, and the exchange of scientific knowledge.For more than a decade, the GCC has earned an unprecedented legacy for overcoming barriers between departments and institutions, increasing cooperation and collaborations, and training young scientists for future careers in the biomedical sciences.The organization’s programs and core facilities are supported by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the National Science Foundation (NSF), the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT),  John S. Dunn Foundation, and its member institutions.

Gulf Coast Consortia

<p>Sponsored by the GCC Single Cell Omics Cluster, the first discussion will take place from 2 – 3 pm CST and will provide a brief introduction to single cell technologies and local core resources. Speakers include Drs. <a href="https://www.bcm.edu/people-search/rui-chen-19458" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Rui Chen</a> (BCM), <a href="https://faculty.mdanderson.org/profiles/nicholas_navin.html" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Nick Navin</a> (MDA), and <a href="https://sbmi.uth.edu/faculty-and-staff/zhongming-zhao.htm" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Zhongming Zhao</a> (UTHealth) who lead the  Single Cell Genomics Core, CPRIT Single Core, Cancer Genomics Center, respectively, which are all designated as shared cores under the GCC MOU for shared cores.  The panel discussion will be followed by a time for Q&A.</p>
