Join us August 15, 2024 - 8:30am-4:30pm for a field trip to Simply Natural Creamery in Ayden NC for youth aged 8 to 14.

This field trip will provide hands on learning about where milk comes from, the care that goes into the cows and the process for milk production. They will also have the chance to interact with farm animals, particularly cows. They can pet, feed and sometimes milk a cow under supervision. Being on the farm they will be exposed to sights, sounds and smells of rural farm life. It helps them to connect with nature and gain appreciation for the environment and sustainable farming practices.

Visiting a dairy farm can also reinforce the inportance of consuming dairy products as part of a balanced diet.

Farm visits can also teach kids important life skills such as teamwork, problem- solving and the appreciation for hard work. They may witness farmers engaging in various farm tasks and understand the efforts required to maintain a working farm.

This field trip will include a wagon ride around the farm, tour of the milking parlor, petting calves and milking a simulated cow. We will wrap up the day with a sample of ice cream made on the farm.
