About this event

  • 2 hours

Join us for Shufuni: Look at Me, a powerful musical and story telling performance with musicians from Otef Aza, the Gaza Envelope. This band of young musicians, all victims and witnesses of the October 7th attacks, will share their personal stories and experiences through music and song. This event will include a short concert followed by a moderated Q&A.

Shufuni was established in 2022 to promote young artists coming from Sderot and the Gaza envelope area, with a goal to offer different types of events and platforms aimed at exposing the public to the unique voice of Israel’s southern communities. Current members include folk singer/songwriter Daniel Weiss, soul-folk singer Linor Ein Gedi, guitarist, drummer and music educator Rotem Meir Levi, and performer Mira Semandoyev, who recently appeared in the finals of the Israeli Idol show, Hakochav Haba.

On October 7th, Shufuni lost performers as well as audience members. The show is a special educational musical performance: a unique combination of Shufuni’s excellent music, and their personal stories from the past six months.

Shufuni hopes to bring more musicians from Israel to JCCs, to build and strengthen the relationship between Jewish-American and Israeli communities
