Shi Doo Shima: A Navajo Tea Party is a free monthly event that is held online and in person at Aneth Chapter. For those in person, tea and cake will be served. Each month a presentation related to domestic violence, sexual violence, and prevention will be given.

June is Pride month, the focus will be on Intimate Partner Violence; Barriers for Two-Spirit Folx.

Our presenter Kelley (they/them) is Two-Spirit (transgender-gender non-conforming). They are enrolled in the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma and tribally affiliated with the Cherokee and Seminole Nations. They earned a Master of Science in Community Counseling at Oklahoma State University-Stillwater. Kelley is a licensed professional counselor and supervisor with 20-plus years of experience working in the helping field with therapeutic and advocacy experience. Kelley specializes in therapeutic treatment of gender and sex minorities and their families including the Two-Spirit communities. Kelley is the founder of the Diversity Center of Oklahoma Inc. (DCO) and has served as the CEO since its inception. Diversity Center is a National non-profit community resource center for gender diverse and 2-S-LGBTQ+ populations and their families. They have a history in law enforcement, as an academic professor teaching psychology classes, have worked with adjudicated families, and female sex offenders, including starting a new department in the State of Oklahoma through the Attorney General’s Office for gender diverse and 2S-LGBTQ+ folx and their families to receive services for intimate partner violence (domestic violence and sexual assault). Kelley has extensive experience working with state/civic community organizations within the non-profit arena and currently serves on the International Two-Spirit Council, public health committees, and advisory boards with university research advisory boards from all over the country related to promoting the treatment of gender and sexual minorities.
