<h3>THIS EXHIBITION IS POSTPONED UNTIL SPRING 2023.</h3><a href="https://sva.edu/academics/undergraduate/bfa-visual-and-critical-studies" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">BFA Visual &amp; Critical Studies</a> presents “Shells for Teeth,” a two-person exhibition by <a href="http://www.lisa-saeboe.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Lisa Saeboe</a> (BFA 2015 VCS) and <a href="https://www.katejonesstudios.co/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Kate Jones </a>(BFA 2016 Fine Arts).Saeboe and Jones began their joint practice in 2014 in Rome - while both were students in SVA&#x27;s inaugural semester in Italy - co-directing the experimental short film “Satori.&#x27;&#x27; The piece is a sensuous take on sublime visual horror– themes that would prove prescient for their future creative endeavors.While most of Saeboe and Jones&#x27; collaborative work has been film and photography based, this is the first time the artists’ individual works are presented alongside one another. Saeboe’s meticulously composed erotic tableaux activate Jones’ daringly raw and explosive paintings and ceramics. Their contrasting approaches to art making present two disparate strategies for deconstructing the myth of the body and the perversion of the feminine.Highlights from the exhibition include Saeboe and Jones’ film work, solo sculptural pieces, as well as their first collaborative painting, marking the beginning of a new dialogue. The Flatiron Project Space, created and founded by the<a href="https://sva.edu/academics/undergraduate/bfa-visual-and-critical-studies" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer"> BFA Visual &amp; Critical Studies department</a>, is located on the ground floor of 133 West 21 Street. The gallery invites VCS students and guest curators, along with other departments at SVA, to realize curatorial projects that highlight our rapidly expanding visual culture. Shows are held monthly and include video, performance, painting and sculptural projects.The gallery is open Monday through Sunday, 9 AM to 6 PM. It is fully accessible by wheelchair.
