About this event

Living in a big city like New York, we have daily opportunities to be surrounded by people. Whether in an elevator, subway, or attending to our daily errands, we are often not alone. Yet, at times, it's easy to feel lonely. The U.S. Surgeon General agrees. He has named isolation and loneliness as a national epidemic.

Playback Theatre is not just about lessening feelings of loneliness and isolation. It's about the power of personal stories. Sharing our stories in public spaces can be transformative. At these performances, we remove the distractions of our daily lives and listen deeply to another person's experience. This act of empathy can truly mitigate loneliness and isolation. With our group of talented artists, your stories will be transformed into a vibrant, dramatic piece of theatre.

At Village Playback Theatre, we create space for everyone, and participation is entirely voluntary. Whether you choose to listen or share, we'll embark on a journey together - one in which we begin as strangers and end up as a community. Or, as we like to say, a village.
