Overview

Shaper Origin Introduction

In this hands-on class, come and explore the capabilities of the Shaper Origin: a computer-assisted handheld router system. It provides portability and flexibility not available with a traditional Computer-Numeric-Control (CNC) system. It supports a virtually unlimited project size (X and Y axes) because it is handheld and does not have the conventional CNC’s fixed table and gantry. It is space-efficient for small shops and it can be easily taken to a job site. The Origin can handle simple (using on-screen design tools) to complicated (using 3rd-party graphics/CAD software) projects. This lecture will demonstrate the basic features and capabilities of the Shaper Origin. We will review the resources that are available on the https://www.shapertools.com/ web site. This class is recommended for anyone that is just starting with the Shaper Origin or considering the purchase of an Origin system. Also in this class, the student will get hands-on experience designing and cutting a small sign using the Shaper Origin.
