Shadow & Light Studio
A free hands-on light and shadow morning where young children explore transparency, reflection, silhouettes, and wonder at Little Nestlings
Join us for Shadow & Light Studio at Little Nestlings Early Learning Center.
This free Community Saturday invites children to explore light, shadow, reflection, and transparent materials through gentle hands-on discovery. Children may use flashlights, translucent papers, fabric, mirrors, natural materials, and simple objects to notice what changes when light moves, overlaps, shines through, or creates a shadow.
This event is inspired by the Reggio Emilia tradition of inviting children to investigate materials deeply. Children are not given one answer or one product to make. Instead, they are encouraged to ask questions, test ideas, notice patterns, and express what they discover.
It is a beautiful fit for curious children who love science, art, movement, and surprise.
Featured child activity:
Explore a shadow and light invitation.
Children will use translucent materials, flashlights, reflective surfaces, and simple objects to create shadows, layered colors, and light patterns.
