Lights, camera, ACTION!✨🎬 Last month, we connected over our shared love of music. In sequence with our Pop Culture series, we’re taking an artistic spin on movie night!! Join us at the next Shades N Strokes, where we’ll combine our love for cinema with the joy of painting. What’s that one film you always go back to? A movie with your favorite soundtrack? We want to hear all about it while we sip tasty beverages and recreate the iconic posters that caught our attention on trips to the movie theater. ✨🍿🎨

Shades N Strokes is an intentional space exclusively for the Black and Brown members of the LGBTQIA+ community to gather and experience joy through creativity and loving community. Come through, unwind, socialize, and get creative! All artistic skill levels are welcome. Refreshments and materials will be provided (but feel free to bring a reference image for your painting or anything else you would like to add to your artwork). RSVP on Eventbrite🗓️ 21+🤎🎨🍷

Shades N Strokes is a creative community created by local besties Maka (she/they) and Christina (they/them).

Bios of the AMAZING FOUNDERS/ARTISTS:

South Florida-based artist Maka Lee explores the relationship between creatives and how we harbor self-expression through various mediums such as music, fashion, and visual art. From vibrant otherworldly portraits to Afro-futuristic depictions of nightlife, Maka’s work explores how these mediums can intersect to create a source of social connectedness between Black queer creatives.

Christina Brown (they/them) is an artist, educator, and community builder. Born and raised in West Palm Beach, FL, they are passionate about creating joyful experiences for Black and Brown LGBTQIA+ folks accessible to them in their own community.
