Sewing Machine Essentials
Always wanted to learn how to sew but the machine feels… complicated? We’ve got you.
Curious about sewing but not sure where to start? In this beginner friendly workshop you’ll learn the essentials of using a sewing machine while creating a small quilted project. We’ll cover how to thread the machine, wind a bobbin, sew straight seams, and practice simple quilting techniques using fabric scraps. Participants will explore how pieces come together through shape, pattern, and repeating quilt blocks while designing their own quilted piece. Students may choose to create a microwaveable rice heating pad, perfect for soothing sore muscles or staying cozy.
- Sewing machines, fabric, and materials will be provided.
- All skill levels welcome.
- Only 8 spots available.
- For students 16+.
- Instructor: Ashley Pastore
Classroom: Mixed Media Studio, Room 125.
Parking:
Free parking is available in the ECAT Wayne parking lot outside of business hours. The lot entrance is on E 7th St (one way) and includes accessible spaces near the front entrance.
Cancellations and Refunds:
We’re excited to run each class as planned, but a minimum number of participants is needed. If enrollment is low, we may need to reschedule or cancel. If that happens, you can transfer to a similar class or receive a full refund.
If your plans change, you can receive a full refund with at least one week’s notice before the first class. Cancellations made within one week of the start date are not eligible for a refund. Processing fees may apply.
We’re not able to offer refunds or credits for missed classes, but feel free to reach out if something unexpected comes up.
