Sewing Machine Consultations - April (Multiple Dates)

Sewing Machine Consultations - April (Multiple Dates)

Overview

Let's talk about your sewing machine! Whether you have no knowledge, are experiencing a strange issue, or whatever else!

Please note:

If you are looking for Drop-In Mending Hours on Friday evenings, please learn more and sign up here.

Join Adam to learn about your sewing machine, troubleshoot a stubborn issue, or learn to maintain and care for your machine!

Your 1-on-1 sewing machine consult will last 45 minutes.

Some things we can help you with:

  • Get to know your sewing machine
  • Learn what needles / threads / stitches to use for different projects
  • Fix basic issues such as uneven tensioning
  • Troubleshoot more complicated issues like timing and stubborn mechanics
  • Learn about routine care and cleaning for your machine

To bring:

  • Your sewing machine
  • Anything else that came with the machine, such as cords, manual, different feet, bobbins, tools, etc...
  • Reading glasses, if you use them
  • * 1 spool of high-quality machine sewing thread
  • * bobbins matching your machine
  • * replacement parts, if you know what needs to be replaced (e.g. light bulb, etc...)

*These items are not necessary but potentially helpful and we try to keep a few on hand for practice

Sewing Machine Consults will be hosted most Fridays starting at 4pm.

We will do our best to make tickets available at least 1 month in advance. If you do not see tickets for a certain week, we are not hosting mending hours that week.

Location: Repair PDX Workshop in the basement of Leaven Community Center

This class is hosted concurrently with our Mending Drop-In Hours. Drop-In Hours is a time for Repair PDX volunteers and past class participants to mend together, learn new skills, brainstorm repair approaches, and use our tools & materials! Learn more here.

Have a question about something you want to bring in or need a ticket price reduction? email margo@repairpdx.org

We're excited to meet you and your machine!

Note: We may not have the parts or skills to fix your machine; if this is the case, we will connect you with other resources to have your machine cared for!

Note on Pricing:

Repair PDX seeks to both pay equitably and keep ticket prices accessible.

Proceeds from tickets go directly to paying our wonderful instructors, providing materials for the class, and continuing to host events and workshops like this one!

If you need a reduced ticket for financial accessibility, please email margo@repairpdx.org and we will open one for you!
