SESTERCENTENNIAL
AMERICA250 IS HERE - COME SEE A PLAY ABOUT IT
SESTERCENTENNIAL is a new hour long solo play written in the second person chronicling a harrowing identity crisis amidst the epic and troubling backdrop of America250.
You are Hamza Beshara, a conservative Bangladeshi American living in Cleveland, Ohio. You’re hosting an indoor barbecue for your (white) best friends on July 4, 2026. Amidst frantic preparations, a looming anxiety festers within you. Something is clearly amiss, forcing you to reflect on your relationships to your culture and friends, and the divisions and contradictions, longstanding and new, that exist between them and within yourself.

The Rogue Players are a New York city based theatre company, a group of performers building a community together. In our meetings, members have the opportunity to develop their practice, receive feedback from their peers, propose projects, share resources, and create a network of support for each other. We value diversity and equity across all platforms, and we hope to reflect that in our essential structure as well as our casting and our programming. In addition to classics, we seek out original, un-produced and under-produced work, especially by writers with traditionally underrepresented voices. Our meetings, although encouraged, are not mandatory. For more information about becoming part of our group, drop us a line on our contact page or email us at rogueplayersnyc@gmail.com
Sour Grapes Productions was founded in 2007, incorporated in New York in 2014, and turned into a non-profit in 2019 by two disgruntled actors who don't like to play by the rules. I mean, they DO play by the rules because they're good noodles, it's just that they don't like to. Sour Grapes Productions is the home of SILENT BUT DEADLY: A Clown & Mime Experience (2019 - present), Chemical X: The Powerpuff Girls Improv Show (2019 - present), The Addams Parody (2021 - present), Joke & Dagger: Dungeons, Dragons, & Improv (2022 - present), and What We Improvise In The Shadows (2023 - present). We curate and run the So Many Shakespeares Festival, the JESTival, and the Sex Jokes & Murder Short Play Fest.
