Session 3: Green Infrastructure & BMP Implementation
Green infrastructure and BMP implementation for larger-scale projects. Part 3 of a 3-part series.
This in-depth workshop is the third session in a three-part training series focused on ecological landscaping and green infrastructure solutions that support clean water and resilient communities.
This session will be led by Dr. Michael Dietz, Head of UConn’s Department of Extension, Water Resources Extension Educator, and Director of the Connecticut Institute of Water Resources. Dr. Dietz brings extensive experience in stormwater science, green infrastructure research, and applied projects across Connecticut and beyond.
Participants will explore how to assess sites, select appropriate Best Management Practices (BMPs) for stormwater capture, and plan for effective design, installation, and long-term maintenance at municipal, institutional, and commercial scales. Drawing from real-world examples, Dr. Dietz will share practical insights to help participants apply green stormwater strategies to larger or more complex landscapes.
This session is intended for landscapers, municipal public works staff, developers, and homeowners looking to build on foundational knowledge and gain practical guidance for implementing stormwater management solutions, while remaining accessible to participants with varying levels of experience.
