Frequently asked questions

Can I get a refund if I can’t attend the training?

All sales are final once you register for a training. While we cannot offer refunds or transfers, you are welcome to send someone else in your place if you’re unable to attend. Please notify us as soon as possible so we can update the registration.

Isn’t it easier to complete this training online?

Online training requires a lot of self-motivation and time, which can be challenging for busy or stressed individuals. Our in-person training is designed to be efficient, engaging, and takes just one day—often saving you more time and being more impactful that online alternatives.

What’s the difference between the Food Handler’s Certification and the Manager’s Certification?

The key difference is the certification exam. The 8-hour ServSafe Manager Certification includes a 90-question, ANSI-accredited exam that meets CFPM requirements in most states. The 4-hour Food Handler’s Certification does not include this exam and is an entry-level food safety course.

Do all employees need a Food Handler’s Certification?

Requirements vary by state. Some states require all employees to have a Food Handler’s Certification, but in Montana and Idaho, only one Certified Food Protection Manager (CFPM) is required per establishment. The Food Handler's Certification is not a requirement in MT or ID as of January 2025.

What should I bring to the training?

We take care of almost everything! We recommend bringing a notebook and pen for note-taking, a sweatshirt as conference rooms can get chilly, and any other items for your comfort. Complimentary coffee and tea will be available throughout the day.

What are the lunch and break arrangements?

A 45-minute lunch break will be held around midday. Students are responsible for their own lunches—most bring one or plan for a quick outing nearby. Coffee and tea will be provided throughout the day, along with short breaks to help you stay refreshed.

Can I register multiple people at once?

Yes, group registrations are welcome. You can register multiple attendees during checkout. For groups larger than 15 people, feel free to contact us to discuss group registration or private training options.

Do you offer private training sessions for groups?

Yes, we offer private training for teams or organizations. Contact us directly for details on scheduling and group rates. For groups under 15 people, we typically recommend attending one of our already scheduled training sessions.

How soon will I receive my certification?

Access to certificates is emailed directly to students using the email provided on their scantrons at the time of the exam. This typically occurs 7-10 business days after the class. If you experience any issues retrieving your certificate, please contact us directly for assistance.

Can I attend even if I’ve taken the training before?

Yes, we love seeing familiar faces! Just like life, things change over five years. Regulations and presentations evolve as new standards are introduced, so it’s always a good idea to join us again to stay up-to-date on current regulations and examination topics.

Who can I contact if I have more questions?

Our business consists of Zac Finley, the Executive Coordinator, and Laura Finley, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and primary instructor. Feel free to reach out via any of the contact options below: Phone: (406) 600-7919 Email: FinleyFBconsulting@gmail.com Website: www.FinleyFBconsulting.com

What happens if I don’t pass the exam?

If you don’t pass, you can retake the exam with us or through ProctorU, ServSafe's online proctoring service. Either option costs $100. Most students retake the exam with us and can join the class again at no extra charge. We recommend this, and all past students have chosen this option.
