Frequently asked questions

Am I required to take the class or may I take the test only?

You may opt to take the test only, however, this is not recommended for anyone without significant experience in food safety practices. You will also be responsible for educating yourself on any updates to the FDA Food Code. Contact Nicole for this option 970-382-6461

Are their price discounts for having mutiple people from one organization attend?

Yes. However, it will mean sharing a book between participants. If you sign up for the training far enough in advance so everyone has adequate time to study, this option may work for you.

What if I don't pass the ServSafe exam?

You will need a 70% or greater to pass the exam. If you do not achieve this on the first try, you may take the test up to three more times over a year. The cost per test ranges from $45.00 - $65.00 depending on if you retake during a preexisting class, or if you choose a privately scheduled exam.

What are the regulations for having a Certified Food Protection Manager (CFPM)on duty?

Beginning in 2024 the Colorado Department of Health and Environment will require a CFPM to be on duty during all hours in which the establishment is serving food. Previous regulations only required that there was a CFPM, not necessarily on duty at all times during service.
